Decommissioning
UK-listed Kistos has contracted a rig and a heavy lifter for the decommissioning of its Q10-A gas field in the Dutch North Sea.
Offshore work is scheduled to start in 2028.
The company announced the two contracts in its interim results. The rig will carry out a single plug-and-abandonment campaign on the field’s wells, while the lift vessel has been booked to remove the Q10-A platform jacket.
Neither the contractor nor the vessel has been disclosed, nor has the contract value.
Kistos is targeting the cessation of production by the end of 2027. The company has stated that the well campaign is planned for 2028, with the subsequent removal of the remaining infrastructure expected in 2029.
The AIM-listed company operates Q10-A with a 60% interest. Located about 22 km off the coast of the Netherlands, the field started production in January 2019 and currently has six producing wells.
Gas is exported from the platform through a 42 km pipeline to the P15-D platform operated by TAQA for processing.
This project dates back to the 2018 EPCI contract awarded to Heerema Fabrication Group for the development of the unmanned Q10-A platform, which was originally being developed by Tulip Oil before being acquired by Kistos.
