Decommissioning

A consortium comprising AF Offshore Decom and Heerema Marine Contractors has secured a new assignment for offshore platform decommissioning on the UK Continental Shelf.

This marks the third contract awarded to the consortium by the same North Sea operator within the past year.

The contract covers the engineering, preparation, removal, and disposal of a steel platform.

The topsides weigh approximately 23,000 tonnes, and the supporting structure around 12,000 tonnes. The deal also includes an option for removing selected conductors and subsea structures.

Offshore platform surveys will begin immediately, followed by detailed engineering and offshore preparatory works to be performed within the next eight years.

The platform will be removed in a multi-year campaign using Heerema’s heavy-lift vessels. After removal, the structures will be transported to AF Environmental Base Vats for dismantling, recycling, and disposal.
