Wind energy – electricity

Statkraft has signed a long-term power purchase agreement to buy electricity from the 50MW Kincardine floating wind farm off the coast of Scotland.

The 100% off-take deal is set under a guaranteed minimum price per MWh until 2029. Kincardine is owned by Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm, which is a subsidiary of Pilot Offshore Renewables, and was built by ACS Group subsidiary Cobra Wind.

John Puddephatt, manager of long-term PPA origination at Statkraft said: “This is the first floating project that Statkraft has been involved in and we expect more to follow; a key technology that could help countries around the world achieve their renewable energy targets.”
