Aramco starts production from Zuluf offshore expansion project

Wednesday, November 4 2026

Arabian Gulf

Aramco has started producing crude oil from its major Zuluf offshore expansion project.

This brings the development, which is designed to process up to 600,000 barrels per day, closer to full operations.

Located in the Arabian Gulf, Zuluf is one of Aramco’s largest offshore oilfields.

The expansion is part of a programme designed to maintain the Kingdom’s maximum sustainable oil production capacity of 12 million barrels per day.

However, the company has not disclosed Zuluf’s initial production rate or specified when the development is expected to reach its full processing capacity.

The project involves new offshore production infrastructure and associated onshore processing facilities, including a significant increase in water treatment and injection capacity to maintain reservoir pressure.
