BP sells oil and gas assets in Egypt

Asset Sale

Reports suggest that BP is in exclusive talks with Energean about selling its oil and gas assets in Egypt.

The deal is said to be worth around $1 billion.

Strategically, this is another clear signal of BP reshaping its upstream portfolio – monetising mature assets, simplifying the business and reallocating capital toward higher-priority opportunities.

For Energean, the potential acquisition strengthens its position in Egypt and adds scale to an already established regional portfolio.

The bigger question is what comes next for BP: how much further will its portfolio optimisation go!
