First turbine at nearshore wind project in Vietnam

Wind Energy

The first turbine was erected at the intertidal nearshore wind project in Vinh Long, Vietnam (V1-5 & V1-6, Phase II) on 5 September.

Energy China GEDI is acting as the EPC contractor.

The project is located in an intertidal zone with a water depth of only around three metres. The shallow water restricts the use of large WTG installation vessels, meaning construction must closely follow the tidal cycle.

Consisting of 16 EN226-8MW turbines with a total capacity of 128MW, the project is Vietnam’s largest single-unit nearshore wind farm, generating approximately 400GWh of renewable energy each year.
