Fossil Energy – Decommissioning

Earlier this month, the Thialf of Heerema Marine Contractors completed the offshore operations to remove the Kinsale platforms on behalf of PSE Kinsale Energy.

The last of the decommissioned structures have been safely moored at the Hoondert Services & Decommissioning (HSD) location in Vlissingen.

The project included removing the Kinsale Alpha and Bravo platforms, which were the only two platforms in Irish waters.

In total, Heerema removed 24,000 metric tons of steel, and 97% of this material will be reused or recycled.

The infrastructure removed during the decommissioning project includes:

– 2 topsides

– 4 accommodation modules

– 14 conductors

– 2 jacket top sections

– 2 bottom sections.
