DeepOcean lays keel for new cable layer
DeepOcean UK, a subsidiary of DeepOcean Group Holding BV, has announced the symbolic keel laying ceremony has taken place in Galati, officially launching the construction phase of its new cable lay vessel. DeepOcean says that the vessel, yet to be named, will be taken on a long term charter from Maersk, and will extend DeepOcean’s capabilities in the larger cable laying end of the market, representing a new focus on interconnector projects, in addition to the oil and gas and renewables sectors. Van Oord’s flexible fallpipe vessel Stornes has set a world record. During a period of four weeks, Stornes placed rock in water depths of up to 1,277 metres. The Subsea Rock installation works were executed in relation to the development of the Aasta Hansteen gas field and Polarled pipeline in the Norwegian Sea. South Stream Transport, a consortium between Gazprom, Eni S.p.A., EDF, and Wintershall, is ready to begin offshore construction of its South Stream gas pipeline project. Tulip buys PA Resources’ Dutch North Sea acreage
PA Resources has reached agreement to divest its 30 percent interest in Netherlands offshore Blocks Q7 and Q10a to Tulip Oil.
