Equinor buys 9.8% stake in Orsted

Equinor has bought a 9.8% stake valued at around $2.5 billion in Danish offshore wind farm developer Orsted.

Orsted shares have dropped 69% from their 2021 all-time high as the offshore wind sector has faced surging costs and technical problems with turbines.

As part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to address legacy pollution, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) has awarded a contract and the first task order for the decommissioning of eight orphaned pipelines in the Matagorda Island lease area, approximately 12 miles off the Texas coast.
