Decommissioning

The Italian engineering company RINA has been awarded a three-year contract by the Brazilian oil giant Petrobras.

Valued at around €11 million, the contract will support initiatives related to the integrity and decommissioning of subsea systems.

Petrobras plans to invest about $9.7 billion in decommissioning activities in Brazil by 2030, including the removal of 18 production platforms, 500 wells and 1800 kilometres of flexible risers.

The project will involve engineering analyses and technical assessments designed to support decision-making on the management and planning of interventions in offshore infrastructure in Brazil.

According to Rina, the contract workscope features studies and analyses focused on integrity, reliability, and maintenance of subsea systems, including assessments of pipelines and risers, that could lead to the development of technical studies for subsea decommissioning projects.
