Installation Project
PASSER is proud to have contributed to the delivery of an 81 km umbilical installation project onboard the North Sea Giant.
Working closely with Ocean Installer, PASSER led the load-out operation, providing and using a dedicated umbilical carousel and loading tower solution.
To meet the project’s unique operational requirements, several equipment modifications were implemented to ensure the system was fully fit for purpose.
This included a dedicated platform to safely accommodate the Electrical Termination Assembly (ETA) during loading, transportation, and offshore operations.
Ocean Installer, as the vessel provider and installation contractor, was responsible for executing the offshore campaign aboard the North Sea Giant, including the laying and installation of the 81 km umbilical on the seabed.
Following mobilization in Bømlo, Norway, the team mobilized the equipment and sailed to Fredrikstad, where the full 81 km of umbilical was loaded onto the vessel. From there, the campaign continued to the Mediterranean Sea, where the umbilical was successfully installed.
The smooth collaboration between all parties, combined with thorough engineering, equipment modifications, cable logistics, and offshore execution, contributed to a successful installation campaign.
