ExxonMobil is expected to further ramp up production from the Yellowtail development in Guyana’s Stabroek Block before the end of 2026.
The company is studying an optimization of the ONE GUYANA FPSO that could increase production capacity to approximately 290,000 barrels per day (b/d).
The FPSO, which began producing oil in 2025, has already exceeded its original design capacity of 250,000 b/d, reaching approximately 270,000 b/d in July 2026.
Higher Yellowtail production is contributing to a significant increase in overall Stabroek Block output and the volume of oil available to the Guyana government under the production sharing agreement. Total production reached 163.3 million barrels in the first half of 2026, compared with 115.7 million barrels in the same period of 2025. The government now expects 326 oil lifts from the block in 2026, up from the 309 initially projected, while its own allocation is projected to increase from 40 to 84 lifts.
The planned Yellowtail optimization follows similar capacity improvements at Liza 1, Liza 2 and Payara, which together have added approximately 130,000 b/d of production capacity.
Yellowtail is expected to recover approximately 925 million barrels from the Yellowtail and Redtail fields through six drill centers and up to 67 development wells. ExxonMobil operates the Stabroek Block with a 45% interest, alongside Chevron, through Hess, with 30%, and CNOOC with 25%.
