Ecowende’s offshore service base opened in IJmuiden

OSB

Yesterday, Ecowende officially opened its new Onshore Service Base (OSB) in IJmuiden, the Netherlands.

The opening marks the transition from construction to operation of its 760 MW wind farm.

The OSB will be the permanent home base for the teams running the wind farm for decades to come, with Eneco Wind Offshore Operations carrying out the day-to-day operation and Vestas responsible for the maintenance and repair of the wind turbines.

Klaas G. Keuning Keuning, Operations Director at Ecowende, said: “This is not the end of the project; this is the beginning of the phase that it’s all about: delivering electricity to the Netherlands safely and reliably, day after day. From the OSB we keep watch over hundreds of kilometres of sea. If something goes wrong on a turbine, we need to be able to respond within hours — not days.”
