The French pipe manufacturer Vallourec has been awarded a contract by the Norwegian subsea company Subsea7.
The contract is for the supply of carbon steel seamless line pipe and a thermal insulating coating for the Sepia pre-salt field, which is operated by Petrobras in Brazil’s Santos basin.
The contract includes the supply of approximately 130 kilometres of rigid risers and flowlines, totalling over 15,000 tonnes of carbon steel line pipe suitable for use in sour service conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The pipes will be produced at Vallourec’s Jeceaba mill in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and the thermal insulation coating will be applied at the company’s Espirito Santo plant.
The Sepia-2 project is located approximately 280 kilometres from the Brazilian coast and comprises 17 development wells, including two from the Sepia-1 project which is currently operational, as well as one gas export line.
