Completion of Total Wellhead Platform Reuse Project

Tuesday, August 25 2026

Gulf of Thailand

Mitsui & Co shares the successful completion of the Total Wellhead Platform Reuse Project in Block B8/32 in the Gulf of Thailand.

Operated by Chevron Offshore (Thailand), the project involved reusing the topside and jacket of the retired Benchamas V wellhead platform to develop the new Chaba B platform within the same concession area.

Compared with the conventional approach of decommissioning an existing platform and constructing a new one, the project is expected to avoid approximately 4,280 tons of CO₂-equivalent emissions.

The project demonstrates how the effective reuse of existing infrastructure can improve operational efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support the sustainable development of energy resources in the Gulf of Thailand.
