Siemens installs lightweight integrated offshore substation

Tuesday, August 18 2026

China

Siemens Energy has announced the installation of its first lightweight integrated offshore substation at the Laoting Yuetuo Island Offshore Wind Farm in China.

This installation marks the first deployment of the company’s High-Voltage Unit (HV-TSU) concept.

By integrating high-voltage components into a smaller, lighter design, the company has reduced topside weight while ensuring reliability.

This innovative design will help to optimise project execution, reduce complexity and support new offshore wind developments.

Siemens aims to apply this technology to support new grid developments and boost renewable energy generation.
