Orient Cable (NBO), has been awarded a pivotal Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) contract for an undisclosed 2 GW offshore wind farm project in Guangdong Province, China.

Developed by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), the project supports China’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

The contract encompasses the supply and installation of two 91-kilometre circuits of 500 kV HVDC 2500 mm² export cables. This extensive scope includes design, engineering, manufacturing, transportation, installation and pre-commissioning.

The project addresses the challenges of long-distance, large-scale centralised power transmission, marking a significant advancement in marine power transmission technology.
