Wind Energy – UK and Europe
The UK and European allies have signed a clean energy pact at a summit in Hamburg today, pledging to deliver 100 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind power through large-scale joint projects, the British government said.
The so-called Hamburg Declaration comes days after U.S. President Donald Trump stepped up criticism of green energy, and signals that Western and Northern European governments remain committed to wind power as a way to boost the region’s energy security.
The Hamburg declaration includes Germany, Norway, France, and Denmark and aims to ‘escape the fossil fuel rollercoaster’ and power homes and businesses across the continent, it added.
An agreement on connecting the offshore grid between Britain, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, and the Netherlands is also expected to be signed at the Future of the North Seas Summit.
