Chuang Li upgrade commences for 2027 delivery

Thursday, January 15 2026

General – Conversion

The Shanghai Salvage Company (COES) announced that the major conversion of the Chuang Li has officially begun.

COES is investing in the future of deepwater construction. By 2027, the Chuang Li will re-emerge as a premier deepwater asset, featuring a newly installed rigid pipe-lay system capable of operating in water depths up to 3,000 meters.

Crucially, this upgrade is designed to retain her massive heavy-lift capabilities, transforming her into a versatile, dual-purpose vessel for complex SURF and heavy installation campaigns.
