Decommissioning and removal of 2,500-tonne Arkona Met Mast

General – Decommissioning

Scaldis Salvage & Marine Contractors, together with its consortium partner N-Sea, has completed the decommissioning and removal of the 2,500-tonne Arkona Met Mast on behalf of RWE Renewables.

Erected in 2006, the Met Mast has been an essential source of offshore measurement and site data for nearly two decades. Having reached the end of its lifecycle, it was safely removed to enable continued development within the existing Arkona Offshore Wind Farm.

This complex campaign was executed in four main phases: above-water preparations, subsea work from the DSV Aquarius G, removal using the HLV Gulliver, and final sustainable onshore disposal by TASK Engineering, all of which were completed on time and without incident.
