Wind Energy – Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and Clean Energy Capital LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Green Energy Company LLC, have entered into an implementation agreement for an offshore wind project.

The agreement covers the evaluation, planning, and implementation of an offshore wind project in the Caspian Sea. The initial phase will have a capacity of 200 MW, with the overall project planned to reach 600 MW. Additionally, Clean Energy Capital LLC will conduct research in a designated area of the Caspian Sea for the development of the project.

In June 2025, bp and its partners took final investment decisions for multiple projects in Azerbaijan, including the 240 MW Shafag solar project. The Shafag project will supply renewable electricity to AzerEnerji, enabling equivalent power to the bp-operated Sangachal oil and gas terminal near Baku. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-2027.

In May 2025, JinkoSolar signed a module supply agreement with HuanTai Energy for the 100 MW Gobustan solar project in Azerbaijan. The project will use JinkoSolar’s N-type TOPCon modules and is expected to generate 180 million kWh of electricity annually. It will contribute to Azerbaijan’s target of achieving a 30 per cent renewable energy share by 2030.
