Wind Energy – South Korea

On April 22nd, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy confirmed that a massive offshore wind project will be developed in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do Province by 2033.

This project will include 10 offshore wind farms with a total capacity of 3.2 GW – more than the output of two nuclear power plants.

This integrated complex, approved by the New and Renewable Energy Expert Committee, is a major step in South Korea’s drive toward clean energy.

Jeollanam-do’s ambitions are bold: deliver 30GW in offshore wind, generate KRW 1 trillion in basic energy income, and attract global RE100 companies committed to 100% renewable energy use.
