HES launches JIP to tackle offshore wind decommissioning

Thursday, April 17 2025

General – Decommissioning

Earlier this week Heerema Engineering Solutions (HES) announced the launch of a new Joint Industry Project (JIP), named CLEARWIND.

Clearwind is aimed at developing and optimizing methodologies for the decommissioning of offshore wind farms.

As the global offshore wind sector continues to expand and mature, the importance of efficient and sustainable decommissioning practices is becoming increasingly evident. Through JIP CLEARWIND, HES seeks to address this critical phase in the offshore wind lifecycle by delivering key outcomes such as:

  • Evaluation of innovative and existing decommissioning methods
  • Optimization of logistical strategies
  • Robust CAPEX estimation tools
  • A strategic roadmap for the planning and execution of offshore wind decommissioning projects

With CLEARWIND, HES aims to provide a collaborative platform that brings together industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to ensure the future of offshore wind decommissioning is both cost-effective and environmentally responsible.

Heerema Engineering Solutions is now inviting forward-thinking industry partners to join the CLEARWIND initiative and contribute to shaping the next chapter of offshore wind energy.
