Fossil Energy – Decommissioning

Petrobras has welcomed the Borr Drilling-owned jack-up rig Arabia I to start decommissioning activities at its maiden offshore field in Brazilian waters.

The Brazilian state-controlled player discovered the Guaricema field in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin in 1968, marking a turning point in the company’s history, which at that point was only producing oil at onshore projects.

Petrobras in July 2024 awarded local group Etesco a four-year contract worth approximately $250 million to operate the Arabia I on behalf of Borr Drilling to carry out decommissioning at mature fields in the country’s northeastern coast.
