General – Order for Mission Equipment
After a very thorough selection process, Deutsche Offshore (DO) has chosen to equip its fleet of Construction and Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (C-CSOV) with SMST’s state-of-the art mission equipment.

The Dutch supplier will provide its advanced Telescopic Access Bridge (TAB-L2) gangway system as well as the powerful 50t Offshore Knuckle Boom Crane (KBC-L) with 3D motion compensating.
“Of all the components on board, the crane and gangway will have the greatest impact on the performance of our vessels. We have therefore conducted a very careful and thorough selection process for our mission equipment. We are delighted to have SMST as our partner in realising the innovative nature of our vessels. SMST will provide us with the unique combination of a high performance system that is proven to operate reliably, safely and in severe weather conditions,” said Johannes Wolters, Managing Director of Deutsche Offshore.
The fully integrated TAB-L2 gangway system will sport the greatest height flexibility in the market, with the tower providing 18m of vertical lift. As a result, the C-CSOV will be able to provide 100 percent horizontal access from as low as 12m and as high as 30m above the waterline. The 3t 3D compensated crane functionality will provide the vessel with additional flexibility and operational redundancy.
To maximize the efficiency and reliability of the system, Deutsche Offshore has chosen to equip the TAB-L2 with automatic landing functionality and a condition-based monitoring system.
“The gangway we deliver has been outfitted with the SMST smartTRACKER which enables autonomous positioning and connection of the gangway. With these features, we ensure optimal flexibility and efficiency for Deutsche Offshore’s lifting and W2W operations,” says Jochem Tuinstra, Sales Manager at SMST.
