General – Davos
CIP’s founder and senior partner, Jakob Baruël Poulsen had a private meeting with H.E. Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Industry and Trade, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Investment and Planning, and H.E. Ms. Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Health, at the sideline of the World Economic Forum in Davos this week.
During the meeting, CIP’s senior partner Jacob Poulsen proposed the Government’s approval for CIP to become the foreign partner in developing Vietnam’s first offshore wind project, alongside one of Vietnam’s assigned state-owned enterprises.
With CIP’s extensive experience in delivering large-scale offshore wind projects globally and in the region, CIP is well-positioned to contribute financially and technically to Vietnam’s first offshore wind projects and support the country’s ambitious goals for green energy transition.
Vietnamese leaders highly recognized CIP’s extensive experience and technical knowledge in developing large scaled offshore wind farms worldwide and welcome CIP’s investment into the new promising industry in Vietnam. They agreed CIP should continue working with state-owned enterprises to explore the possibility of partnering in the first offshore wind projects in Vietnam.
Since entering the Vietnamese market in 2019 with the flagship 3.5GW La Gan Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of Binh Thuan province, CIP has continued to expand its presence, with a portfolio of over 10GW of early-stage offshore projects across Northern and Southern Vietnam.
