Tuesday, June 27 2023

Wind Energy – Vietnam

On June 26, 2023, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) had a meeting with Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee in Vietnam, regarding the implementation plan of La Gan offshore wind project.

The La Gan offshore wind farm is located off the coast of Binh Thuan, Vietnam. With an expected capacity of 3.5 GW, the wind farm is estimated to power more than 7 million households. La Gan aims to be one of the first large-scale offshore wind farms in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai emphasized that the approval of Power Development Plan 8 (PDP8) in May 2023 is an important milestone, contributing to the strong development of offshore wind industry and creating a foundation for the country to reach the target of net zero emissions by 2050.

PDP8 also directs Binh Thuan province to become a renewable energy centre of the country.
