Fossil Energy – Topsides Fabrication

The two leading Chinese shipyards Bomesc and Cosco have secured contracts from a joint venture between SBM Offshore and Technip Energies to construct topsides modules for a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

The FPSO will play a central role in TotalEnergies’ $10.5 billion GranMorgu project offshore Suriname.

Previously known as the Sapakara South-Krabdagu project, GranMorgu represents the first major development in Suriname’s Block 58, an area regarded as one of the most promising oil and gas regions globally.

The modules are integral to the vessel’s capacity to handle production from GranMorgu, which is expected to deliver substantial volumes of oil and natural gas.

Once operational, the FPSO will have the capacity to process large volumes of hydrocarbons, with production expected to play a crucial role in meeting global energy demand.
