Fossil Energy – Decommissioning
An unnamed UK North Sea operator has awarded DeepOcean’s Aberdeen office an extensive decommissioning and recycling contract.
The 120-day program, due to take place this year, will be split into five sub-campaigns covering recovery of concrete mattresses, spools, flexibles, flowlines, jumpers, a suction anchor and multiple structures; and final debris clearance with subsea rock installation to perform seabed remediation.
DeepOcean will deploy the Normand Jarstein and Edda Freya vessels, the latter providing 2,300 sq m of deck space, a 400-mt AHC crane and two moonpool-launched 220 HP Kystdesign work ROVs.
Following recovery, all the equipment will be transported and offloaded onshore for reuse, recycling or disposal.
DeepOcean will collaborate with a waste management contractor on reuse options for the concrete mattresses.
