General – Long-term Contract

Norwegian offshore service vessel provider, Island Offshore, has announced that it has secured a long-term employment contract for the walk-to-work vessel Island Condor.

The contract is set to start in Fall 2024 with a Norwegian customer following an extensive shipyard conversion to an offshore construction vessel.

The Island Condor previously served as a walk-to-work vessel in the UK and has also been involved in Norwegian projects over the past year. It will now undergo modifications at the Myklebust Yard in Norway for conversion to an offshore construction vessel equipped with two remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) with a hanger, an offshore crane, a helideck, and a larger battery pack. The ship’s midsection will also be extended, including interior fittings.

The modifications will allow the vessel to perform inspection work, crane operations, and similar tasks for the oil and gas and renewable sectors.

Delivery to the customer is expected September 2024.
