Fossil Energy – Vietnam

Murphy Oil’s board has sanctioned the Lac Da Vang field development offshore southern Vietnam in the Cuu Long Basin.

The company operates the surrounding Block 15-1/05, in partnership with PetroVietnam Exploration Production and SK Earthon.

According to Murphy’s latest results presentation, the partners plan a phased development through 2029, with first oil in 2026 and eventual peak production in the range 30,000 to 40,000 boe/d. Lac Da Vang holds estimated recoverable resources of up to 100 MMboe.

Elsewhere on the block, the partners are looking to drill the Lac Da Hong exploration well next year, pursuing potential resources of 65-135 MMboe. And on offshore Block 15-2/17, Murphy plans a well on the Hai Su Vang prospect which could contain 170-430 MMboe.
