Tennet jacket ready for transport to destination off coast of Egmond aan Zee

Friday, August 12 2022

General – Jacket

Depending on the weather conditions the jacket for the transformer platform Hollandse Kust (West Alpha) will leave the port of Vlissingen on Sunday 14 August and/or Monday 15 August.

The jacket will then be transported on a floating pontoon to its location some 50 kilometres off the coast of Egmond aan Zee.

More than 50 kilometres off the coast of Egmond aan Zee, the voyage of the large steel construction has come to an end. Under pre-determined conditions such as wave height and wind, the installation vessel Orion of DEME Offshore will install the jacket on the seabed.

At the four corners, the jacket will be secured by means of piles that are driven into the seabed to a depth of more than 50 metres. By filling the space between the piles and the tubes with grout, the connection is made in such a way that the platform can withstand even the heaviest storm in the North Sea.
