After a precertification pilot study, the HYPORT Duqm green hydrogen project concept is now ready for full certification in compliance with the latest EU regulations for green hydrogen and green ammonia production.
The precertification was carried out by HINICIO, a leading consultancy firm focused on sustainable energy, industry, and transportation.
Crucially, this paves the way for the green ammonia to be certified as ‘Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin’ (RFNBO). This certification means that HYPORT Duqm can be sure that its green molecules qualify for import into the EU and clients, at the same time, are guaranteed that they have been sustainably produced.
HYPORT Duqm’s green molecules will be shipped to customers in Europe and other countries. Therefore, a robust and transparent certification scheme is essential to support clients and ultimately, the green energy transition.
To obtain compliance with the regulations HYPORT Duqm has to meet very strict requirements on how the molecules are produced, as well as the GHG footprint when they are delivered to the end-user.
HYPORT Duqm is being jointly developed by DEME Concessions and Omani energy company OQ. Initially, the JV partners will establish a production facility with a 500 MW electrolysis capacity.
