Maritime Developments (MDL) has completed a cable replacement and flowline installation scope for Oceaneering International, aimed at restoring production capacity in two Mediterranean fields.

A complete MDL flex-lay spread was mobilised onboard the Multi-Purpose Offshore Vessel Energy Savanah to carry out the replacement of a damaged production umbilical, followed by the installation of a UTA (Umbilical Termination Assembly) and flowline in the Egyptian waters.
The recovery and lay package consisted of MDL Generation 3 Reel Drive System (RDS), Horizontal Lay System enabled with a 4-track tensioner, deck winches and sheaves, together with a bespoke hang-off platform for secure transport and handling of the umbilical’s gooseneck.
MDL’s engineering and technical teams conceptualised, manufactured, and tested the tilting frame in-house.
Additional project management and engineering services MDL provided included developing the gooseneck handling methodology, sea-fastening design, and mobilisation support from MDL’s quayside facility in north-east Scotland, the Peterhead Energy Service Base.
