Greater Changhua 4

At around noon on 2 October, a turbine blade was damaged at the Greater Changhua 4 offshore wind farm.

No personnel were working on the turbine at the time, and there were no vessels in the area.

The owner, Ørsted, said that no one was injured and that a safety exclusion zone has been established around the affected turbine.

The company added that safety control measures have been implemented in the surrounding waters and that the relevant central and local authorities, as well as key stakeholders, have been notified.

Ørsted is working with the turbine’s manufacturer, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, to assess the situation, and is continuing to monitor the turbine via cameras.

Relevant work vessels are on standby and ready to proceed to the site if necessary to carry out emergency response actions.

Greater Changhua 4 is currently operated by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, and the affected wind turbine is under warranty with the manufacturer.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy will lead the investigation into the incident, with Ørsted supporting the process while prioritising the safety of personnel and the protection of the marine environment.
