Offshore Wind
Equinor has appointed ERM and CMS to support the delivery of the scoping report for its 1.5 GW Celtic Sea floating offshore wind project.
ERM has been appointed as the environmental consultant and will provide planning and environmental consultancy services for the project.
The company also announced that CMS has been selected as the legal adviser to support the application for a Development Consent Order under the Planning Act.
ERM will undertake environmental impact assessment scoping and habitats regulation assessment screening for the offshore wind farm, as well as the associated transmission cable and grid connection works.
CMS will provide legal support and strategic guidance throughout the pre-application phase, as well as support relating to securing land agreements and rights.
Awarded in The Crown Estate’s Leasing Round 5, the project lies off the coast of South-West England and has a capacity of up to 1.5 GW.
It could be operational in the mid-2030s and has the potential to generate renewable power for millions of homes.
The scoping report will seek stakeholder opinions on the topics and methodologies proposed for inclusion in the environmental impact assessment required for the project to be determined as a nationally significant infrastructure project through the development consent order process.
