Final Monopile
After installing the first monopile foundation in July and the first transition piece in August, the project team on DEME’s vessel Orion has now successfully installed the final monopile.
This completes the 68-monopile installation campaign for what will become Germany’s largest offshore wind farm.
Located 85 kilometers north of the island of Borkum, Nordlicht I will have a capacity of approximately 980 MW once completed.
Developed by Vattenfall, the Nordlicht wind farms will play an important role in Germany’s energy transition.
Together, Nordlicht I and Nordlicht II are expected to generate enough renewable energy to power around 1.7 million German households while also supporting German industry.
