Second Simulator
Spliethoff Group has officially opened its new advanced training simulator at its headquarters in Amsterdam.
Developed in cooperation with the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN), the facility enables seafarers to train complex cargo, heavy-lift and ballast operations in a highly realistic and safe environment.
The Amsterdam facility is the second of two next-generation simulators developed for Spliethoff Group.
The first was commissioned in Manila in December 2025, providing dedicated training facilities in two key locations for the Group’s international seafaring workforce.
The simulator recreates realistic vessel, crane and ballast operations, enabling crews to train complex scenarios in a controlled environment.
This allows operational procedures to be practised repeatedly and supports the preparation of specialised cargo and heavy-lift projects.
The simulator provides a highly realistic training environment, enabling crews to practise complex crane, ballast and cargo operations in complete safety.
Using MARIN’s Dolphin software, vessel motions generated by waves, currents, wind and lifting operations are replicated in real time, accurately reflecting operational conditions at sea.
