On September 11, 2026, the Vietnam-Russia joint venture Vietsovpetro, received the first oil from the RC12 platform at the Rong field, Block 09-1 in the Cuu Long basin.

Vietsovpetro is a member unit of PETROVIETNAM.
The RC12 platform is designed with 4 legs and 9 wells, with a design capacity of 1,500 m³/day, 300,000 m³ of gas/day, and 250,000 m³ of gaslift/day.
The project is the result of the successful drilling of exploration and appraisal wells R-79, R-81, and R-82.
Immediately after the oil and gas discovery, Vietsovpetro actively implemented legal procedures, procured materials and equipment, fabricated, installed, and completed the project according to the schedule.
Design and procurement for the project commenced in March 2025; fabrication began on December 10, 2025. The foundation block was completed and onshore commissioned on April 2, 2026; the superstructure was completed and onshore commissioned on August 6, 2026.
