Siemens Gamesa
Production of blades for the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm has officially begun at the Siemens Gamesa Renewable Power factory in Hull.
Hornsea 3 is a project being developed by Ørsted in the North Sea. Once completed, it is expected to be the world’s largest single offshore wind farm, with an installed capacity of 2.9 GW, enough to power more than 3.3 million UK homes.
The manufacturing process transforms raw materials into fully finished turbine blades. The wind farm will comprise 197 turbines, with each blade measuring slightly longer than a football pitch.
The Siemens Gamesa factory will employ 1,400 local workers to oversee every stage of production, from manufacturing to quality inspections.
