Aker BP has started producing gas condensate from the Skarv Satellite Project in the northern Norwegian Sea, one year ahead of schedule.
The Skarv FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading unit) serves as a regional production hub and has become a key tieback destination for nearby discoveries.
The combined development of the Alve Nord, Idun Nord and Ørn fields is expected to recover approximately 120 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe).
Each field has been developed via a subsea template with two wells tied back to the Skarv FPSO, and the CO₂ intensity is projected to be around 4.5 kg per boe.
The project was co-managed by Aker BP’s alliance with OneSubsea, Subsea7, Aker Solutions and Halliburton, with Saipem participating in the drilling phase.
The project should also lay the groundwork for further development in the area in future.
