Exploration
Equinor is establishing a strategic exploration collaboration with Aker BP and Vår Energi to pursue some of the largest remaining opportunities on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS).
While near-field discoveries remain important, larger finds will be needed to support future standalone developments, long-term value creation, and reliable energy supplies in the decades ahead.
Equinor, Aker BP & Vår Energi will combine expertise, data, technology and exploration capacity to pursue selected high-impact exploration opportunities.
Over the next four to five years, the partners plan to mature and test a portfolio of approximately 20-25 exploration opportunities, with an ambition to drill around five exploration wells annually.
