Van Oord completes monopile installation at Baltica 2 OWF

Baltica 2

Van Oord has finished installing all 111 monopile foundations at the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea.

The project began in May and included 107 monopiles for the wind turbines and four for the offshore substations.

The company used its installation vessels, the Aeolus and the Svanen, for the work. Van Oord attributes the project’s success to the combined capabilities of the two specialist vessels and its offshore wind expertise, which maximised installation efficiency and maintained a steady pace.

The dual-vessel approach enabled parallel activities, supporting efficient offshore operations and ensuring the project remained on schedule.

The monopiles measure up to 100 metres in length, have diameters between 9.5 and 10.5 metres, and weigh 1,900 tonnes each.
