Feasibility Study

Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam held a formal review session on August 20, 2026, led by Vice Chairman Nguyen Cong Vinh, to assess the feasibility study for the Can Gio 2 offshore wind power project (OWPP).

At $22.5 billion, this is one of Southeast Asia’s largest offshore wind developments currently in the planning stage, signaling Vietnam’s accelerating push to restructure its energy mix.

The project is located in the Can Gio Sea, Ho Chi Minh City, approximately 10 to 18 km from the coast. The design capacity is 6,000 MW.

The Can Gio 2 project reflects Vietnam’s broader national drive to scale offshore wind capacity as a cornerstone of its long-term energy transition strategy.
