Petrobras has discovered a new gas accumulation at the Sandia-1 exploration well on Block GUA-OFF-0, which is located offshore Colombia.
The well is located around 18 km from the Sirius-1 discovery and Sirius-2 wells, and 9 km from the Copoazu-1 discovery, in around 4,104 ft of water offshore Colombia.
Petrobras has stated that the intervals in which gas was confirmed are being evaluated in detail through well logs, and will subsequently be characterised by laboratory analyses.
The well was drilled using the Noble Discoverer semisubmersible rig, with drilling commencing on 12 June and reaching its final depth on 29 June 2026.
The rig is expected to finish working with Petrobras in September 2026, after which it will move to Suriname to work with TotalEnergies from December this year.
