Nordlicht I offshore wind farm continues to take shape

Tuesday, August 4 2026

Transition Piece

The first transition piece has now been installed offshore, marking another major construction milestone for Nordlicht I – which will become Germany’s largest offshore wind farm.

Following the installation of the first monopile foundation in July, the first transition piece has now been installed by DEME’s jack-up installation vessel Sea Installer.

Together, DEME’s vessels Orion and Sea Installer are carrying out the foundation and transition piece installation campaign for what will become Germany’s largest offshore wind farm.

Located 85 kilometers north of the island of Borkum, Nordlicht I will have a capacity of around 980 MW once completed.
