Late July, RWE fed electricity into the German grid for the first time from Nordseecluster A in the North Sea.
Nordseecluster A comprises 44 Vestas turbines, each with a capacity of 15 MW, resulting in a combined capacity of 660 MW. The array sits around 50 kilometres north of the island of Juist, inside Germany’s exclusive economic zone.
Power runs to two offshore substations and then through the grid operator’s converter station to the mainland.
RWE expects the first phase to be fully commissioned in early 2027.
