Dialogue
To ensure a structured and focused dialogue going forward, the Port of Esbjerg and Japan’s Akita region agreed to prepare an official cooperation agreement – a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The final agreement will be signed in October, when the Global Offshore Wind Summit-Japan (GOWS-J) takes place in Nagasaki / Japan.
Just recently, the Port of Esbjerg had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Akita region. Japan is facing a massive expansion of offshore wind, and the Akita region is set to play a key role in the country’s green transition.
The delegation gained valuable insights from visiting our facilities, with a view to strengthening the competitiveness of their own ports.
The Government of Japan has designated Akita Port and Noshiro Port as official pre-assembly and O&M ports, and with a massive project pipeline in the area – including the major 845 MW Yurihonjo project – they are facing significant scaling opportunities.
