First Steel Cut
Drydocks World selected Iv to design the topside of the Ostwind 4 offshore HVDC converter platform.

A milestone was reached on 10 July when the first piece of steel was cut, marking the start of the platform’s fabrication.
Earlier, 50Hertz Transmission awarded the full EPCI contract to the consortium consisting of GE Vernova and Drydocks World. It will be the first 2 GW offshore platform that Iv is designing for 50Hertz, and the first 2 GW platform to be built in the Baltic Sea. It is the fourth platform Iv is designing for 50Hertz Transmission in total.
The platform will collect and convert wind energy generated far out in the Baltic Sea and transmit it over 110 kilometres to the German mainland using 525 kV HVDC technology – enabling efficient, large-scale power transmission with minimal losses.
Iv will deliver the full design scope of the topside and all auxiliary systems, while addressing complex challenges such as limited access routes and strict environmental constraints.
