Subsea7

In collaboration with Repsol Sinopec Brasil, ExxonMobil Brasil, and Petrobras, Subsea7 has unveiled a full-scale prototype of the Gimbal Joint Riser (GJR).

This is an innovative offshore technology offering long-term durability and the potential to reduce costs for future projects.

Now advancing to its second development phase, the project has entered full-scale experimental validation, demonstrating the feasibility of a simplified subsea architecture that reduces installation complexity, material use, and associated carbon footprint.

The GJR concept introduces a multi-articulated joint in rigid risers, enabling efficient application in ultra-deepwater environments without the need for large buoyancy structures required by conventional systems.
